ORIGIN STORY

Katrina Swirko is a neurodivergent writer and artist who is just doing her best. She has a B.A. in creative writing and also studied comedy writing at The Second City. She currently lives in Franklin, NH along with her dog, Hudson.

Katrina first joined the world of fiber art ca. 2007 when she was hired at a popular yarn shop in Concord, NH. That’s when she first learned to knit, and has been hoarding yarn and making weird sweaters ever since.

In addition to handknitting, she also combines her fascination with collage, painting, and embroidery through her mixed media art. Her biggest artistic influences include: Jean Michel Basquiat, Judith Scott, Remedios Varo, Maria Prymachenko, and Lee Krasner.

Katrina’s comedic influences include Conan O’Brien, Chris Fleming, Ronny Chieng, Jack Handey, and Maria Bamford.

Katrina has been published on McSweeney’s and previously wrote for Abortion Access Front and its affiliated comedy podcast, Feminist Buzzkills.
